Parenting is Hard

If you are someone who likes your freedom, having a kid will cramp your style. However, parenting is also enjoyable — if you let it be.

Look, parenting is hard. And it isn’t because you won’t get adequate sleep for 2 years or because your baby will get sick every week in the winter which will make your doctor’s office feel more like home than your actual home.

Parenting is hard because every area of your life that used to be your main priority is no longer your main priority. Every area of your life that made you feel authentic, worthy and empowered like your job, your friends and your hobbies all become compromised.

But you know what? Parenting teaches you, as the parent, many valuable life lessons. Along with patience, gratitude and incredible responsibility, parenting teaches you to be a kinder, better person. Parenting is an amazing concept that catapults self-reflection. It teaches you a lot about yourself — the good and the bad qualities, and allows your amazing attributes to legitimately shine.

How has becoming a parent made you different? Let me know!

XOXO,

Ash
