Reinventing ourselves is appealing.

Why?

Starting fresh — by way of career change, physical appearance or other form of self-rejuvenation — is capital E Exciting because you can erase the bad and start clean with the good.

Whether you’re moving cities, becoming a first-time mom, or you just feel that a new and improved you is on the horizon, keep reading to get some feel-good tips when deciding to take the Brand New Me plunge.

First Up — Your Appearance

You feel good when you look good. It’s just that simple.

Getting drastic with a new hair color or overall style takes the “you look good when you feel good” concept to an entirely new level, and will get you in the New You mindset as soon as you make that hair appointment and/or hook yourself up with your fashionable friend who knows the power that dressing well holds.

Hair: Figure out who the best hair colorist/stylist is in your city and tell them you want a complete hair overhaul. Bring in photos of people sporting your dream hair and let the salon staff treat you like the celebrity you’re about to look like.

Style: Make your fashionable friend take you cool shopping. What is cool shopping? It’s going to vintage shops, thrift stores, flea markets and small boutiques over the been-there-done-that stores. These places will speak to your actual style and help you adopt a look that is uniquely you. And, the items you find in these places are often sustainable, will be much higher quality, and will last a long time (if not forever).

Second Up, Mini Mind Makeover

What do you enjoy doing? Not for work, not for money, not for someone else’s pleasure. What do you, plain and simple, enjoy doing?

I enjoy writing posts that help people feel good. I enjoy wearing hot pink coats. I enjoy eating Trader Joe’s Perfect Bars after walking my dog. I monitor the way I feel after doing these enjoyable things because it gives me the answer to what we’re all after every day — feeling good for the sake of feeling good, but progressing along the way.

Feeling good triggers positive emotions and ideas about what’s already rolling around in your head. May that be personal improvement goals or professional development skills — amazing things come to you when you give them a chance to make their way into your life.

Find out what makes you feel good, do more of it, and witness the feelings of euphoria which then lead to bigger and better opportunities you didn’t know existed.

Third Up, Career Boost

Do you like your job? Does your boss believe in you or belittle you? Do your colleagues cheer you on or bring you down? Is the work you’re doing fulfilling or soul-sucking?

If you struggle to answer these questions, it’s definitely time to evaluate your current career sitch. Working with toxic, negative people will drag you down/put a serious damper on your personal life just like working with fabulous, uplifting people will cause all other areas of your life to soar.

If you’ve been thinking about creating a project or founding a community or starting your own business, what is stopping you?! Ignore the worries and fears that go hand in hand with trying something new, go with your gut, and get whatever it is you’re dying to accomplish off the ground.

Your future self will thank and applaud you for it, no matter what the outcome is.

Last Up, Believe in Yourself

The point of rediscovering yourself is to do so unapologetically. You can’t let the opinions of other people coerce you back into your old ways or prevent you from molding your New You mindset.

Are you having trouble believing in yourself? Call someone you trust and have them list the many reasons why you are fabulous and capable of manifesting the life that you want.

There is a bigger and better way to live. Rediscovering yourself by way of newfound personal style, a reframed mindset and emphasis on executing your colorful ideas will get you to those bigger and better (and more fun and more lucrative) places.

You have to go at it with intention and originality.
